Wolf Gas Oven Igniter Clicks, Burner Never Lights
A current Wolf all-gas oven lights with a spark, not a glowing igniter, so clicking is normal. Each attempt gets seven seconds; a miss is followed by a 40-second purge and a second attempt, and two misses end in a safety lock-out with a slow-flashing light. Normal
- Clicking from inside the oven after you set a temperature, then a soft whoosh as the burner catches. Wolf expects that within 40 seconds.
- A quiet gap between two rounds of clicking: the 40-second purge, not the oven giving up.
Fault
- After a second round of clicking the oven indicator light begins a slow flash and the cavity stays cold: the control has locked the burner out.
- The lock-out comes back every time you reset it.
What to check first
Start with the convection fan button. Wolf asks for the fan to stay off during preheat: moving air can lift the flame out of the electrode’s reach, and the control then counts a lit burner as a failed one. With the fan off, wait for the slow flash, turn the oven knob to Off, set the temperature again and listen through one cycle. The panels stay closed; what sits behind them is ours.
What we usually find in Market
Kirkland’s Market neighbourhood mixes older and newer houses, and its all-gas Wolf ranges have often come with a kitchen update. Most often the fan button was pressed at the start of a bake, so the oven kept losing a flame it had in fact lit. Sometimes the slow flash was taken for a breakdown and never reset. Rarely the igniter has worn or the gas valve will not open, and proving which is the work of the visit.

Can I light a Wolf gas oven by hand while the igniter is playing up?
No. When an oven burner will not ignite, Wolf says to stop using the oven until it has been repaired, and its guidance on lighting by hand covers the surface burners only, never the oven. Leave the oven knob at Off meanwhile. Wolf Repair Kirkland, (425) 699-2400, will ask what the light did before the lock-out.
