Spark Present, No Gas at Any Burner: The Supply to a Wolf Range
When every burner on a Wolf range sparks and not one of them lights, the ignition is working and gas is not arriving. That points behind the range rather than at the igniters: a shut-off valve left part-closed, a regulator added outside the range, or the supply itself. Normal
- Three or four seconds of clicking before each burner catches, which is Wolf's own figure for a surface burner.
- On propane, a slightly slower first light of the day, which Wolf describes as expected.
Fault
- Every burner clicks for ten seconds or more and not one of them catches.
- On an all-gas range, the oven will not light either, since the same supply feeds it.
What to check first
If no burner has lit after about ten seconds, turn the knob off and wait a full minute before trying again, as Wolf advises, so unburnt gas cannot gather. Then think about what has changed: building work, a range newly fitted or moved, a meter swapped, a propane tank changed. Notice whether anything else in the house that runs on gas still works. Past that point the supply side is for us or a gas fitter; nothing behind the range is an owner check.
What we usually find on Finn Hill
Many Finn Hill houses were remodelled around a new range, with the gas line extended to reach it. Most often a shut-off valve was left part-closed after that work, or never fully reopened. Sometimes a regulator has been fitted outside a range that already carries its own, which Wolf lists among its checks.
