Wolf Burner Head and Ports
The burner head is the part of a Wolf sealed burner beneath the cap, ringed with the small ports the gas leaves through and burns at. Open, clean ports give a steady, even ring of flame; blocked ones give a flame that is weak, patchy or erratic, and Wolf puts a dirty burner first among the causes.

What We Usually Find · Rose Hill
- Most often
Sugar, sauce or fat baked into part of the ring, leaving a gap or a short, ragged stretch in the flame on one side of the burner.
- Often
Cleaner or degreaser left sitting in the ports because the head was not rinsed and dried afterwards, which unsettles the flame until it is washed out.
- Sometimes
A head that looks grubby but is not the problem. When every burner runs weak together, the cause is upstream — supply, regulator or orifice — rather than several heads failing at once.
- Rarely
Ports opened out with a pin, wire or drill during an earlier clean. The flame changes for good, and that head has to be replaced.
What it means for the repair
Cleaning puts most heads right. When we open a burner, we clear the ports, rinse and dry the head, and light it to see an even ring before we call it done. A head that has been damaged — ports widened, a crack, a bent edge — is replaced with a genuine part for that burner. If every burner on the range is weak, we look at what feeds them before touching a single head.
Before you call
Let the burner cool completely. Wolf’s routine for surface burners is mild detergent or a spray degreaser, a rinse with water and a towel dry. Use a soft brush on stubborn ports and nothing that could widen them, then leave the burner until it is properly dry before lighting it. If the ring is still uneven after a thorough clean, call Wolf Repair Kirkland on (425) 699-2400.
In Rose Hill kitchens
Rose Hill’s newer houses often fit a generous kitchen onto a compact lot, and many carry 36- or 48-inch ranges that see serious cooking, several pans at once and plenty of boil-overs. That is exactly how ports get baked shut. Heads here are usually dirty rather than damaged, and a careful clean is most of the job.
What it costs to put right
No set band for this one — Wolf Repair Kirkland quotes it after the diagnosis, as one figure for parts and labour.
A flat $89 pays for the visit and the whole diagnosis; approve the repair and that $89 comes off its price.
Asked about this one
Why is the flame on my Wolf burner uneven or patchy?
The commonest cause is ports in the burner head partly blocked by baked-on food or leftover cleaner, with a cap slightly out of place a close second. Clean, rinse and dry the burner, then re-seat the cap flat. If one burner still burns patchy, or every burner is weak, Wolf Repair Kirkland, (425) 699-2400, checks the head and the supply.
Can I clear blocked burner ports with a pin or a drill bit?
Please do not. Anything hard enough to shift baked-on food can also widen or distort a port, and a port of the wrong size changes the flame permanently. Use mild detergent or a spray degreaser with a soft brush, rinse, and dry thoroughly. A port that stays blocked after that is one for a technician to clear.
